As a result of our tough winter, the School District of New Glarus is short one face-to-face day of instruction. As a result, there is a need to make up one day of school. On Monday, March 25th the New Glarus Board of Education decided the extra day of instruction will be on Monday, June 10. As a result, the schedule for the June 7 and June will be as follows: Friday, June 7, 2013: Students will have a noon dismissal; this is the same as the current schedule. Monday, June 10, 2013: Students will have a noon dismissal.
Solo and Ensemble 2013 was a great success for the students of New Glarus. Approximately 93 students participated with exceptional results. Whether they did solos, duets, quartets, or larger groups, the New Glarus High School Band/Jazz Band students sent a clear message that we hold very high standards for performances. Among the best accomplishments for them this year in particular was the fact that 41 out of the 48 students who did class A band events have qualified for State Solo and Ensemble! However, most important is what the students learned from this: a better understanding of music, a deeper appreciation for quality, and teamwork.
This is to notify you that beginning on January 2, 2013 initial SLD evaluations at New Glarus School District will begin using information from a student's response to intensive, scientific research based or evidence based interventions when making special education eligibility decisions.
