School psychologists have specialized training at the graduate level in both psychology and education.  They use their training and skills to team with educators, parents, and other mental health professionals to ensure that every child learns and grows in school. 

School Psychologists typically provide the following services:

  • Consultation Work with families, teachers, and parents in meeting the academic and mental health needs of students
  • Evaluation Assessment of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students
  • Intervention Develop prevention and intervention programs for children
  • Referral Help parents find community resources

School Psychologists help with problems such as
Learning difficulties
Developmental Delays
School Phobia
Socialization Difficulties
Concerns with attention, distractibility, and poor organizational skills
Behavior problems in class
Retention
