MS Principal/Director of Curriculum

New Glarus, WI)— After 13 years as New Glarus High School Principal, Dr. Jeff Eichelkraut has decided to move to the open Middle School Principal/Director of Instruction position beginning July 1, 2024.  This position will allow him to continue to be a principal, while also broadening his knowledge and skills to curriculum, instruction, assessment, summer school, grant writing, and other areas for all grade levels 4K-12.   The School Board approved the transfer at their February 12 meeting, and the district has posted the High School Principal position.

The Middle School Principal/Director of Instruction position was open because Mr. Edge has decided to step away from administration and has resigned his position for next year due to family reasons.  In determining how to fill the position for now and the future, Superintendent Jennifer Thayer recommended and School Board approved moving forward with a Middle School Principal/Director of Instruction position and reverting back to a High School Principal position instead of Middle/High School Principal position.  This structure provides each school with their own principal so there is one go-to person for students, staff, and parents.  Also, at a time when it’s getting harder to fill administrative positions, finding a principal for one school is typically much easier than finding someone interested in being a principal for two schools.

Dr. Jennifer Thayer commented, “We are thankful to Dr. Eichelkraut for his 13 years of service as High School Principal, and are fortunate that he wants to continue to broaden his knowledge and skills within the New Glarus School District in a new role.  We also look forward to finding the next High School Principal to be part of our team.”

The High School Principal position is currently posted, and interviews are expected to take place in March.
