NEW GLARUS, WI - The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has released the 2024–2025 State School and District Report Cards, and the New Glarus School District once again ranks among the best in Wisconsin. With an overall score of 85.2, New Glarus earned a 5-Star Rating—Significantly Exceeds Expectations, the highest designation awarded by the DPI. New Glarus also received the highest score in Green and Dane County again this year.
Individually, each New Glarus school performed very well. New Glarus Elementary School earned a score of 82.5, receiving a 4-Star rating of Exceeds Expectations. New Glarus Middle School achieved an 87.2, earning a 5-Star rating for Significantly Exceeds Expectations. New Glarus High School followed closely with a score of 83.2, earning a 4-Star rating of Exceeds Expectations. Together, the results reflect a consistent level of strong results across all grade levels.
The Wisconsin School and District Report Cards evaluate schools annually in four key areas: student achievement in English language arts and mathematics; academic growth from year to year; outcomes for students who require additional support; and indicators of student engagement, including attendance, absenteeism, and graduation rates. New Glarus ranked between the 89th and 94th percentiles in all categories, underscoring the district’s strength in both academic performance and student progress.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Thayer stated that the results reflect years of hard work and collaboration among staff, students, and their families. “These results are years in the making and are a tribute to our students and staff, who have never been satisfied with the status quo,” Thayer said. “Our staff continually collaborate and carefully analyze what each student needs to be successful. They are deeply committed to ensuring that every student is prepared for whatever path they choose after high school. This success also speaks to the incredible support we receive from our families and the broader community, as well as to the students themselves, who consistently rise to the challenge.”
