Check out this inspiring story from the Dairy Star featuring New Glarus High School senior Zack Moldenhauer. Through his Youth Apprenticeship program, Zack has been gaining incredible hands-on experience at Brandon Flannery’s dairy farm—often starting his chores as early as 4:20 AM!
Even though Zack didn’t grow up on a farm, he has spent the last three years mastering everything from milking to prepping champion show cows. His mentor, Brandon, says Zack’s work ethic and reliability are second to none—proving that the skills learned in a youth apprenticeship (like responsibility and quick thinking) translate to any career.
Zack is currently balancing his farm work with fire academy training at Blackhawk Technical College to become a firefighter. 🚒
Congratulations, Zack, on your success in the show ring and for showing us all what dedication looks like! 🌟

The New Glarus School District proudly hosted its annual Spelling Bee on January 7 at the New Glarus High School Auditorium! 🐝📚
Twenty-five students from grades 4–8 showcased their spelling skills, preparation, and perseverance. Congratulations to Spelling Bee Champion Lev Bartlett (6th grade), who won with the word “chartreuse,” and 1st Runner-Up Declan Umhoefer (7th grade) for an outstanding performance.
Lev and Declan will represent the district at the Regional Spelling Bee in Stoughton on February 11. Best of luck! 👏 Thank you to our teachers, families, and staff for supporting our students and celebrating academic achievement.

Families interested in open enrollment or relocating to the New Glarus area are invited to attend our upcoming School Tour Day on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
This event provides an opportunity to explore our facilities and educational offerings across all levels. Participants will receive guided tours of New Glarus Elementary, Middle, and High School, along with dedicated time to speak with our principals about our district’s mission and programs.

Last night, New Glarus High School Art Club members officially unveiled their Adventsfenster window at the New Glarus American Legion. This window was created by The Art Club to honor the spirit of the season and the strength of those who serve.
It was an honor to contribute something meaningful to such an important community space. Members of the Art Club hope these windows bring a sense of reflection and joy to everyone who passes by.
