Members of the HOSA Health Occupations Students of America) organization at New Glarus High School traveled to Accuray and Madison College yesterday. The students received a tour of the Accuracy facility in Middleton and learned about the cutting-edge radiation therapy technology that is manufactured right here in Wisconsin. At Madison College students attended a health care job fair and toured the campus. Great opportunities for our students!

On Thursday, two high school teams went head-to-head in a fierce Battle of the Books competition. The contest was neck-and-neck, with both teams answering questions correctly about the 20 books on this year's list. It all came down to the final questions, but the Lightning Sharks emerged victorious. The Purple Turtles team finished as runners-up. Congratulations to both teams for an exciting battle!

BIG Congratulations to Sonja Engen and Emerson DeRouin! They competed at the Region 6 STAR competition last Saturday in Level 3 Interior Design. Sonja and Emerson did great and will be moving on to the state competition in April at the Kalahari Resort in Wi. Dells.!


Our Youth Apprenticeship program gives students the chance to explore and gain experience in careers they are interested in pursuing. Leslie has had the chance to explore her interest in Nursing by working as a Nursing Assistant at SSM Health-Monroe Hospital. Thank you to Stacie and the team at SSM Health - Monroe Hospital for providing this opportunity to Leslie!


Youth Apprenticeship (YA) gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore their chosen career path and helps employers develop a qualified and committed workforce.
New Glarus High School has 9 Seniors participating in YA this year. Nathan is working with Clark Electric pursuing a career pathway in the Electrical trade, Leslie is working with SSM Health - Monroe Hospital pursuing a career pathway in Nursing, Owen is working with Tri-North Construction, pursuing a career pathway in Construction, Cooper is working at Helvetia Systems pursuing a career pathway in the IT field, Jessi is working at The New Glarus Home pursuing a career pathway in Nursing, Logan is working at Woodford State Bank pursuing a career pathway in Finance, Abby is working at SSM Health Monroe Clinic pursuing a career pathway in Nursing, Morgan is working at the New Glarus Home pursuing a career pathway in Nursing, and Mackenzie (not pictured) is also working at the New Glarus Home pursuing a career pathway in the Nursing field.

This week we recognize our amazing school counselors for all the wonderful things they do for our students! Thank you Ms. Purpero, Ms. Montogmery, and Ms. Russ.


On Tuesday, Mrs. Mielke's "Farm to Fork" class toured Hoesly's Meats. The students have been studying a unit on how to be an educated consumer. The class was able to see many aspects of the Hoesly's Meats business, which helped them learn more about the meat-cutting business and about different career opportunities in Agriculture. Thank you to Hoesly's Meats for the great tour and your continued support of our Agriculture programs at New Glarus High School.

Gracie had the chance to explore her interest in nursing by working as a CNA at The New Glarus Nursing Home.
