Our Youth Apprenticeship program gives students the chance to explore and gain experience in careers they are interested in pursuing. after high school. Gracie had the chance to explore her interest in nursing by working as a CNA at The New Glarus Nursing Home. Youth Apprenticeship (YA) gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore their chosen career path, and helps employers develop a qualified and committed workforce.
New Glarus High School has 4 Juniors participating in YA this year. Zach is working with Flannery Farms pursuing a career pathway in Animal Fundamentals. Xander is working with Jim's Automotive Repair pursuing a career pathway in the Automotive Tech field. Coledon is working with Sloan Implement, pursuing a career pathway in Agricultural Mechanics. Gracie is working at the New Glarus Nursing Home pursuing a career pathway in Nursing.
We are thankful for these local businesses that provide our students with these job-skill opportunities to help them prepare for their futures!

Community member Drew Von Ruden donated his scooter to the Ag/Tech program. One of our students, Andrew, went over it, made some repairs, and was able to take it home. Drew stopped by yesterday to sign the title over to Andrew. Thank you for providing this opportunity to our students!
Eight students from the New Glarus High School Choir attended the 75th annual Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, on Jan 12 - 14th. Over 1000 students from WI, MN, IA, IL, and IN came together at the festival to rehearse music and sing at the Grand Concert under the direction of Dr. Last. Students also attended a concert performance by Norskor, Aurora, the Nordic Choir, and Farmingdale High School. In addition, 3 New Glarus students auditioned and were selected as Honorable Mention soloists, ending up in the top 20% out of 300 students auditioning. Our students had an amazing experience singing with other high school students who love and appreciate choral music!
Our elementary students had a chance last week to buddy up with other classes while teachers got their new classrooms ready in the new building. They spent time getting to know each other, doing activities, and playing games together. Everyone had fun and made some new friends!
Some of our 5th-grade friends spent some time checking out the new furniture in the new building! Looks pretty comfy!
Gus, one of our service dogs at New Glarus High School, made a visit to the Veterinary Science class yesterday to allow the students the opportunity to practice safe animal handling techniques. Thanks Gus!
New Glarus FFA is holding a "Winter Gear Drive." Donations of new winter gear such as gloves, hats, scarves, etc... will be donated to local community organizations. Look for drop-off containers in the entryways of the elementary, middle, and high school buildings.

7th Grade Art students created a mural for the local Adventsfenter Windows this year. Each 7th-grade student created a tree for the mural. This mural is at the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion building. Great job Graycee, Elsa, Avery, and Hayden!
